There's a point to that though, even if I don't agree with "the most" part.

Laundry was arduous and time-consuming it was to do laundry before washing machines, which really is not all that long ago. And it was women who did all of this work.
Washing machines and other domestic labour-saving devices contributed to women being better able to enter the labour force, earn income and financial independence and be valued as more than just domestic drudges who did the cooking and cleaning.
