I did have a real-life version back in school too.

8AM class that I absolutely hated, so I stopped going to the lectures. I knew there was a midterm coming up, so I went to class one day to find out when the exam was so I could study. Turns out the exam was that day. Got like a 33% on the test, dropped the class, and changed majors.
