Agreed. I am surprised that neither of them is getting more critic award play after the strong reviews.

I'm torn on Boyhood as BP. I admire the undertaking, the audacity to even try this, let alone the logistics that they successfully pulled it off. But I wasn't really engaged by the story, felt it was a bit weak in that sense, but makes the mechanism feel every so slightly like a stunt.
BP nom well deserved, but (and I've seen very few other contenders) if this is the singular best 2014 has to offer, I'm a bit disappointed.
