They weren't coaching the equivalent of the 76ers either. I think those guys are more akin to Phil Jackson than anything in that they had really good

teams to begin with and got them most out of them. Torre also had Jeter in his locker room. Cox had Maddux and those great pitchers. LaRussa probably had the widest variety of players, but always had talent.
