San Dimas dude! and wait, I'm on the dragstrip of the Winter Nationals! That's two of the thoughts from this morning's half marathon

The description for the Holiday Half Marathon said something along the lines of going through the historic NHRA site of the Winternationals. Complete understatement as we were on the dragstrip. Something that slowly kicked in as we started on the far end of strip (ending section) and as we ran down the perfectly straight two lanes, the surface switched from asphalt to asphalt with progressively more and more rubber built up on it. Course I'm pretty sure that the aggregate times of all runs for an entire NHRA event would have been a fraction of the time that I spent covering the distance.

Also on the far side of the course was a sign indicating the entrance for Raging Waters which was the location for the water part in Bill and Ted's

Oh, yeah somewhere along all the sightseeing, completed the race in 2:05:45 so like 9:36 per mile or so.

I've set a goal of running a sub two hour half marathon on Super Bowl Sunday at the Surf City Marathon in Huntington Beach. I'm still a bit worried about that one as I had in mind when I set the goal that the race was sometime in Feb. It technically is but Feb 1 means I've at minimum 1 week less to train than I originally thought.
