The only thing tying him to the crime is what someone else is claiming, isn't it?
So you have Adnan, possibly lying, with no evidence pointing to him, and Jay, possibly lying, with evidence pointing to him. The possibly lying cancels out in the equation, just leaving the evidence hanging on Jay.
