I rewatched the old miniseries I, Claudius again (spoils)

This time I found myself paying more attention to the Antonia character, Claudius' mom. Her arc is amazing. She starts off innocent and then slowly becomes broken down by the corrupt, degenerate nature of Roman life. In her first scene, her innocence starts eroding when she finds out how common sexual depravity is. Then throughout the course of the episodes, she comments on the downfall of values under Tiberius and Caligula, until she finally takes her own life as an old woman, one of the last virtuous Romans. Tired of being the only one around who cares about being a decent person and standing up for what's good and right. Every other good Roman banished or dead.

Her acting is amazing in all of this, Margaret Tyzack.
