ST IT help needed re: smart phone WiFi reception ...

I have Comcast cable broadband, and it's pretty damn good (though I can't wait to switch to Google Fiber).

On my wired computer, I routinely get 50-60 Mbps download and 12-15 Mbps upload.

On my wireless (WiFi) laptop and iPad, I'll routinely get around 30-35 Mbps download and around 10-12 Mbps upload.

On my HTC One smartphone, however, the reception I get is disgustingly slow: I'm lucky to hit 1.0 to 1.5 download, yet the upload speed is consistently 9-11 Mbps.

What the hell is going on?

I'm using the same testing service on all devices (Ookla Speed Test). I'm using all three mobile devices at various places in my apartment, and I've even tried standing in the exact same spot in the middle of the living room with each of the three at the exact same height off the floor with a clear line-of-sight to the WiFi router. Same result every time. The laptop and iPad perform well, but the phone never gets above 1.0 Mbps download.

Am I going crazy?
