I'm more than a little bit torn about this.

I send my kids to the Boys & Girls Club on days when they don't have school but I still have to work. I understand that the B&G Club presents itself as a safe place for inner city kids, but around here, it's mostly just a daycare program for kids who don't have school. It's not free by any means, so I don't feel I'm taking advantage of a charity. But yesterday, they gave all the kids presents. TOYS. Everyone got something. Action figures, dolls, stuff toys... LEGOs. Yay, that's great. But it's not like my kids are wanting for anything. I doubt a single kid at the B&G Club yesterday was wanting for clothes, food, warmth, or much less a Christmas present. I'm not saying we're "too good" for this. I just think those toys could have better served the community elsewhere.
