It wants so badly to be a noticed. To be paid attention to but it's like that girl in the inappropriately short skirt at church. It's the antithesis of subtle.
There were very good performances. In particular, Lindsay Duncan, who should always work, made the movie critic proof. And of course Norton runs a good lesbian smooch.
Its all just is so earnest.
