I think part of it is Hoodie doesn't look like he's ready to kill someone when something goes wrong.

he's a control freak, but he doesn't destroy his players visibly....

and I think the ultra-control freak thing came after he won a few titles, at which point, you get a lot of freedom to do what you want.

The control freak shit with him seems to stabilize people (Moss and Dillon were really good citizens) whereas the Niners just looked like inmates running the asylum.
