EPA says, don't bother, unless you can smell mold or dead vermin, or see 'things' reaching out to grab you, most of the time what they show as mold is

just caked dirt, there are no evidence of health benefits, or improved efficiency (clean the coils/exchanger if they are caked with dirt)
but...if you have a mold problem then cleaning won't help cause the conditions that cause it must be dealth with.
teh scams come when they then sell you on having a bioside sprayed as there are no approved ones, and most cause more health problems and do nothing to prevent the problem
more household dust, mold, etc comes from kitchen, kids, pets, poorly maintained fireplaces, from LIFE
