There will be an offline draft with no time limit. It is for 8 (!) rounds. You will be compiling a group of potential keepers. Note that you do not have to draft a position such as TE/K/DEF if that is your wish. Collate your roster as you see fit. After the early draft is completed, you will have the ability to make whatever trades you see fit in order to maximize the talent of your roster. In August, you will finalize a list of 5 keepers and then draft just as is done in the other leagues each season.
The draft order has been determined in the following manner. League champions draft 10-12. League points champions draft 7-9. League runners-up draft 4-6. League runners-up in points draft 1-3. The exact order was determined by a random draw by an annoyed woman in her bra and panties who had not had time to dry her hair yet. Your beloved Imperator will pay dearly for that as the day evolves.
Returning teams will be allowed to keep their rosters from the prior year.
What I mean by this is that if you are a member of the league this year and then earn your way back next season, you get to keep the roster you already built. This is a massive competitive advantage that will reward consistent top tier performers.
This tactic will also counterbalance the design flaw of this league, which is the imbalance that exists between Astronauts and the others will regards to overall strength. The big fish in the smaller ponds can create a dynasty team in the champions league as long as they don't slip up in their own leagues.
Anyone who fails to earn consecutive appearances loses all of their players who are thrown back into the draft pool. Similarly, teams that earn a bid next year will not have a roster and thereby must participate in the new draft. What I expect for the 2015 off-season is something like 4 managers earning a return spot and thereby keeping their rosters. The other 8 teams will draft the same as is being done right now.
