Lesson #1: Unfortunately don't expect to be trained to do your job. You'll probably have to figure most of it out on your own.

When I started my new position my "training" was shadowing someone who was doing the job for half a day. My advice is to be prepared to teach yourself and to find a few good peers to show you the ropes. They'll know what really goes into the job. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but I found I learned more from my peers than my superiors.
