Some woman's grandmother ran a boarding house in Boston and the old precursor to Red Sox used to stay there. They have her grandmother and now passed down baseball cards of the whole team, autographs, and letters. Her father cut the cards a bit to for them in a notebook. They are from 1882 or something. They included Spalding (founder of the sporting goods company). The appraiser said she had never seen these cards before and no one she checked with had either. The appraiser said it was the best archive she had ever seen on the Roadshow, and one of the best pieces ever. Valued at $1M.
The woman did not expect it to say the least.
