I read an article a while ago, possibly from a link here, that Avatar, for all its success, hasn't left a cultural imprint in its wake.

For example Star Wars had the light saber toys and Darth Vader, Star Trek had the hand signal with the split fingers, LOTR had the one ring slant that's instantly recognisable.
Avatar? According to the article, it's like it never existed. I guess an absence of fanboys possibly?
Anyway, I wondered why that was.
Speaks to absolutely nothing of the film's quality, I know.
Still, I thought it was interesting.
