In response to "I see kids of like 7 or so (I didn't ask) walking home from school all the time in my neighbourhood, and we're what's considered "inner city". -- nm" by Reagen

I do too, but I wonder what the difference there is.

Are they really alone if other kids are doing it? Is it simply an accepted social norm to walk home from school, but a less structured thing like the park is forbidden?

My twin and nephew are out in the safe 'burbs, but I still have to wonder. My SiL and bro have plenty of sense parenting-wise, but she in particular can be a worry wart. They might just be with my nephew at all times because it's "easier."
