Yes, they can be a bit tough to regulate the temp. and takes some time and practice to figure out when and how often to add chips and charcoal but it's worth the effort.

If you do get the weber I would recommend getting an alternate temp gauge because the one built in pretty much sucks. Something like a remote.

Also, when I had mine I ended up drilling holes in the bottom to help with air flow around the coals. I found that helped with the temp thing quite a bit.
