Strongly disagree. Reality's TV celebration of the offbeat and extreme tries to drive it into the mainstream. It is not mainstream, nor should it be.

At the same time, it's the offbeat that makes the "characters" appealing, so driving them into the mainstream would sabotage its own appeal. I don't like the celebration of the offbeat, and I certainly don't want to see it into the mainstream, nor do I feel that this has actually happened.
