I really wish I could figure out my manager and her attitudes toward people.

she adores my co-worker to the point he can do no wrong.
i get dinged for things that he routinely does wrong.
she's run 3 women out of this department.
I am routinely told that I need to be more assertive like another project employee (young woman who routinely breaks chain of command) but when a guy on that project breaks chain of command, my boss reports him to his manager.
Today, in a meeting with a manager, my boss sat by as I was sternly talked to by the manager about reasons outside people requested a certain report -- the entire time, the people who did request the report were sitting in the room. When I mentioned the target wasn't accurate, that the people being targeted (and myself) weren't the issue, my boss was quite content to not make a wave. She was one of the people who actually did request the report.

How can someone have all these ideas about getting things done in the quickest, most direct way possible, then destroy others who do the same thing? I just...
best way to cope because saying fuck it, I quit isn't an answer.
