I'm still surprised that an insurance company would let me cash out an annuity without so much as a 'thanks for your business'

I suspect this product was something they no longer cared about (acquired in a merger) but I thought at least they'd try and convert me to something else.

Nope, one phone call and they emailed me the surrender forms and the check arrived today. So different to previous dealings with insurance companies.
