Yup. One of my cats is not a fan of getting combed but needs it. We do it in stages and allow her to calm down so she doesn't bite or scratch us.

If there was never any real aggression before the combing then it shouldn't be an issue going forward as long as you pay attention to the signs that the cat is getting agitated.
