ok, now that the football (apparently) over with, dear comics nerds: are there any of the mike carey xmen tbp's that stand out as better than others?

i just finished his novel THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS in two days this weekend and it was really, really great. like, read it in two days great. i've previously read through vol. 4 of THE UNWRITTEN and I've got mixed feelings about it--some of it is really good (like the general storyline, the meta material and the basic tone), and some of it i can't stand (like the choose-your-own-adventure bit, the overt religious angle and all the meandering non-Tommy Taylor story stuff).

so here's my question: is there any of Carey's Xmen work that stands out as being particularly worth reading?
