The building has been evacuated, and police are going floor to floor.
Officials said people are being evacuated from the School of Music.
Officers in SWAT gear are armed with AR-15s, and they are moving everyone across the street from the school of public health.
There was a report that an ambulance was at the school, but has since left.
The University of South Carolina has issued an alert that shots have been fired at the new School of Public Health. They are advising people to seek safe shelter.
