It is a bit of a time commitment but so worth it. We do have to agree on things to watch usually but that hasn't really been a problem for us

Our computer is in the same room as the TV so one of us will just hop on the computer while the other watches something they're not interested.
I tend to just watch shows I know she won't like when she's not home. I get a few hours every week to myself and I use it to relax and watch TV
