Pick one and get to 32. Everything gets easier after that.

I'm not using Praxic Fire, the best Warlock exotic, because I still haven't had a raid helmet drop. At 32, the entire Crota run is fairly easy, though.
So, my suggestion is to pick the armor configuration that works for you and max out everything with shards. Then, you can tweak it later.
