I will add that out of the last ten years, I consider all of these films worthy:

Argo
The Artist
The Hurt Locker
Slumdog Millionaire
The Departed
No Country for Old Men is borderline. Not all of these were my favorite nominees during their years, but all of them are great films.

Then for me, it's only The Artist, No Country and maaaaaybe Slumdog. (I haven't seen Hurt Locker or 12 years A Slave) -- nm

By worthy, do you mean that you agree it is the best? Or that the movie winning is an acceptable outcome? -- nm

Interesting. No Country is the one I would put before the others in that field.

12 Years A Slave doesn't make the list? That's surprising. -- nm
