Hollywood is the Dream Factory. The entertainment industry definitely attracts people and its portrayal in movies is part of that

The stereotype is they come here and work as waiters while trying to make it big. People really do this! I see it on the local Reddits and also middle_carne who works banquets has umpteen coworkers doing exactly this with their lives.
