In response to "I have never been afraid of flying. Sure, when I first started flying (as a teen) there were concerns about the unknown" by ty97

And my serious response. I have been flying since I was 5? 6? First flew alone when I was about 7. Never afraid at all! A few years ago I flew to

Hawaii and had a MAJOR panic attack. Caught me off guard. It wasn't the fear of heights it was claustrophobia. I couldn't get my ativan in me fast enough. It seemed to take for ever to work.

Thought it was a one time deal so a week later on an island hop boom major panic attack again.

Now I can't fly without pills. That was the series of panic attacks that lead to fear of getting on an elevator. That was the one that finally put me into therapy. Fear of planes I can deal with meds. Fear of something I have to ride a few times a week for work? I couldn't get around that, and because I drive for work I can't med up for them.

The therapy has really helped the fear of elevators but I still have that issue with plane claustrophobia.

All my life fine, until a few years ago. Eeesh, where did that come from?
