In response to "I never bought a car and the game never made me feel like I needed to. I did want a few cars that were $ only but I wasn't upset at all. -- nm" by Krusty

I do think that trying to tie virtual cars to real-world rarity is folly.

Fewer than a thousand people will ever get to ride in the McLaren P1. It's the first free car you can use in Forza Motorsport 5, which was played by millions of people; the rarity factor has already been subverted. All the designers are doing by making Hondas readily available in game and require hours of playing before you can access a Formula 1 race car is saying "play the cars you're used to seeing, not the ones you want." It would be like ESPN or Fox Sports saying "Welcome NASCAR fan, before we'll let you watch the racing you want to see, first you'll have to spend ten hours watching dirt track trucks, motorbike, and European endurance racing." If they're going to encourage players to play the cars they want, they should do away with the real-world-pricing and credit economy scheme.
