"Sex Education Curriculum
For your information, all health classes that
teach sex education emphasize that
abstinence from sexual activity is the expected
norm. Courses are designed to promote a
wholesome and comprehensive understanding
of the emotional, psychological, physiological,
hygienic and social responsibility aspects of
family life, and for grades 6 through 12, the
prevention of AIDS. A sample of the District’s
instructional materials and course outline for
these classes or courses are available from the
classroom teacher for your inspection upon
request.
No student is required to take or participate in
the sex education portions of the health
curriculum. There is no penalty for refusing to
take or participate in sex education units within
the health curriculum. However, alternative
assignments must be completed to fulfill these
academic course requirements. If you do not
want your child to participate in these units of
learning, please complete a waiver statement
(included with the course permission slip) and
return it to your child’s health teacher within 5
school days."
So I don't know, based on that, if that info was even supposed to be part of the class.
And according to my daughter, the teacher incorrectly described how Plan B works (my daughter actually asked to know) and refused to answer questions about abortion (asked by other students).
What the damn hell point is there in having this class if questions like that go unanswered or get answered incorrectly?
