Play in games (or as they will aggravatingly call it, the first round)

Something like 10 years ago they made the two worst team play each other on Tuesday for the right to play the best #1 team. Then a few years later I think they added a second game to earn the 16th seed.

Then in 2011 they decided that the last four at-large (non-automatic qualifier) selections would play for the right to get an 11 seed in the main draw. So now you have a 68 team tournament in which 60 of the teams get first round byes.
