The story is not about getting the Ark to a museum. It's about a man who dismisses any nature of artifacts beyond historical study to be hocus pocus, and who is one step above being a tomb raider. Belloq and Jones are simply two sides of the same coin when they're chasing down the prize, and the story is about how Indy comes to realize there's more to it than that.
