I don't mean that they're going to attack the town's people and take over. More that they're going to show them how weak they are how things need to be for the town to survive. Not so much a violent coup but more that they'll realize that the group is better suited for defense than anyone else.
I like Spawn's speculation that The Wolves attack and Rick and the group defend the town. That'll lead to them taking over running the town.
