The problem with that is you have devs who are now saying that they're actually afraid to create any female characters because there's ALWAYS

something that that crowd will bitch about.
You say they don't want to take any games away, but letting a very militant minority dictate to devs how they portray any woman, with ever shifting goalposts or face bullshit vilification will have a very chilling effect on the industry.
Bottom line is that if you want to see different games, and you think there's an audience for them, then start making them and rake in the bucks.
