Exactly. And the "make your own" suggestion is a bit hard to put in to practice since these games take millions to develop. That requires

either a VC to give you capital or an existing company to be more inclusive in its hiring and development of product.
And there's a lot of incentive for game developers not to bite the hand that feeds them, which is currently the male-dominated gamer community crying for heads whenever female characters are treated as anything more than eye candy or a prop for the game's protagonist to save and/or abuse.
