Bobby Cox believes that anyone who throws 95 consistently automatically takes 6 bats out of a lineup.

So, only about a third of MLB hitters can do something with 95+ MPH pitches. Everybody can hit 88-91 unless the pitcher is great at movement and selection.

Basically, that one stat explains why he was so great at first and has became so fungible ever since.
