If you were offering Will 100 projected HRs, you were offering him 4 players.

4 for 1 trades are generally not going to work out for the person taking on the 4 players.
In part because he will need to drop three players. Which is almost the entire bench. Now, right after a draft that he missed, that probably isn't much of an issue.
The real issue is in the limited number of starting roster spots, and maximizing their values. If you needed to add four players to equal the value of Trout then it is still a net loss for Will. Other than one OF he would need in return, the rest are taking the place of players already on his roster. They would either be on the bench, and as such would have minimal value, or they would be taking the spots of some of his his starters. So he then would need to consider the net gain/loss of switching the players he either currently has (including bench players he could move to a starting spot) or could pick up off waivers for the players you were offering.
Plus, you can't really trust projections. And they differ from one person to the next, but Yahoo has seemed to be particularly bad in the past.
