Oh, you should see the nightmare around change of address forms. The system doesn't understand abbreviations.

So if you have St Louis on your file and this year you put St. Louis you'll get two letters about changing your address.
Businesses have received dozens of letters if their payroll, 1099, tax, etc systems aren't using standardized addresses because they get two letters each time they file a form.
