The point is you don't get to live in that perfect world where everything is certain and everyone makes decisions with the same level of absolute certainty you do. You have a world that has a death penalty with all of the flaws of the people who apply it. If you want to fry the guy you want fried, you have to accept that there will be other people who don't fit the bill the way you would apply it because other people are making those decisions. So if you really want it, you have to accept that there will be others that you do have regrets about. That's why I draw the line where I do.
