STIS. I have a battery operated desk clock. I thought I took the battery out years ago but I didn't. Battery corroded as did the metal piece holding

Is there anyway to clean it? Or is it permanently a paperweight now?
The opening is really only as wide as the battery itself.

there are lots of tips out there. I've used baking soda and water in the past for mild corrosion. googling + clock looks to give some more specific
