while the samsung s5 has many ui features that are better than the iphone's, fingerprint unlocking is not one of them. (blahblahblah ahead.)

I hadn't turned it on for my samsung until I started using it for my new work iphone - the sam. requires way more precision with its swiping motion vs. the iphone's finger-laying method, making the process frequently frustrating. I think it's only worked twice on the first try out of dozens of attempts over the past several days.

the iphone hasn't worked on the first try maybe once or twice, and that was because of my learning process early-on, when I was trying to make it more complicated than it is. the way it learns your print(s) takes longer, but that's a small tradeoff for its goodness.

fortunately, it's the iphone I more frequently use when I can't be paying close attention; and I'm going to turn-off the fingerthing on the samsung until they have an upgrade or something. I haven't tried its dot patterns unlocking, because I don't think that's going to save anything vs. just using a passcode.
