Anyone who says this knows nothing about how to read tracking.

And since I have the actual numbers and know how to read them, it is absolute poppycock. Yeah, Pitch Perfect 2 has an abnormally high percentage of women under 25 who want to see it (as expected) but the Mad Max numbers are skewed because it's still facing Avengers i.e when guys are asked to pick their first choice between Avengers and Mad Max, they'll generally go with the former. When that is no longer included in tracking, the numbers for Mad Max will go up. right now Mad Max has 46 - 52% Definite Interest among males based on a 75-83% awareness and it has less than 50% awareness among women under 25. Gee, I wonder why? Maybe because none of them were born when the last movie came out? Pitch Perfect is heavily skewed towards the younger women but there's almost zero interest among men so the business will be split down the middle and Pitch Perfect will probably win Friday but be hugely frontloaded... and having seen both movies, I think Mad Max will have decent legs because people won't have seen anything like it where as Pitch Perfect is just more of the same and it will be HUGELY frontloaded because of it.
