I can totally appreciate why they're doing it and all, but honestly, is it smart to do that in front of an Irishman holding a big stick?

I mean, seriously, it's an Irish guy . . . despite the sign he's holding, I'd almost certainly expect him to wield that thing like a baseball bat or a crowbar and break that lip lock up . . .
