In response to "Avengers AoU spoiler thoughts (with some actual spoilers)" by Beryllium

A couple things (spoils)

"A bit weird that somehow Loki's sceptre had the code to do it AND had the infinity gem. It basically meant that Ultron's code was based on what might have been an Asgardian defense system."

The Infinity Stone *was* the code.

"It was also weird how they were talking like Ultron would be great and good. They learned quickly, but the audience already knew, so it was strange and took me out of the movie a bit."

The idea was that he would be sentient and understand the difference between good and evil. But as Ultron showed, that's a child-like belief, because nothing is black and white, either-or. Ultron was an idealist whose idealism wasn't supported by reality.

"The forty-five minutes of robot smashing was smashy and had some good bits (the slow-motion bit in the church in particular was pretty decent in 3D, and Hawkeye's talk was great), but overall just seemed like a slog. Like a video game where the number of bad guys increases rather than their difficulty."

Yeah that felt a bit too much like Iron Man 3.

"And they just left that one half-smashed robot right next to the device. So the whole slog wasn't even worth it."

They left a lot of smashed robots laying around, but the intent was to destroy the floating city anyway to prevent it crashing into the Earth like a giant meteor.

There are still issues with blowing it up in the atmosphere instead of letting it crash, but the robot hitting the trigger just moved the timeline a bit, not the end result.
