i feel like i am more annoyed than i should be...

someone got me when they were looking for someone else's extension. The person they were actually looking for, was close by, so i put the person on hold and said to the actual recipient, "this call is for you, i'll transfer it back to your desk - do you want me to wait a second for you to get there?"

She said "oh, i'll just take it here", and held out her hand for the phone. So, i gave it to her, but, reluctantly. While she was on that call - my phone rang twice. She gets a beep so she knew i had calls coming through, she just looked at me and shrugged helplessly, like "what can i do?"

How about, ask them to hold and take it at your own desk?

Sheesh.
