Here when something big happens to shut a line down they'll get out shuttle buses to run the train route. It's nowhere near as good as the trains but

it moves the people and keeps them off of the regular bus routes that run near the trains. When they can prepare for it, it can run rather well. When it's last minute it could take a couple of hours to clear the large crowds waiting at the broken down train station(s).
