Once you unlock field scout the mag capacity jumps to 60 rounds. If you switch from field scout to persistence perfect balance you can keep the 60 rounds and reap the benefits of the increased stability. Switch back to field scout when you reload.
Thunderlord's perk lightning rounds increases speed and accuracy when you hold the trigger down, this will improve* TTK when shooting multiple targets in rapid succession. Unlike normal persistence, Thunderlord works in two three stages, rather than a gradual increase. (/u/sportforking said its actually 3 stages) But you can also single fire bullets like a scout rifle which makes it highly accurate and good for chaining head shots(/u/maskedgimp says the aim assist is at 90). Also Lightning rounds can be used most effectively against bullet sponge enemies, a good target is Sepiks prime, just hold the trigger down and let rounds fly.
And last, for now, don't forget the hidden perk. Kills have a chance to proc a firefly type explosion that causes arc damage as well. This makes killing grouped up thralls easy, good for the abyss or the Eris Bounty Hard Fall. (rapid kills with a heavy weapon.) (/u/Alphalcon notes that the firefly explosion is small so only good against grouped enemies.)
/u/asphere37 said thunderlord is great at weedings, funerals, parties, and more.
If it isn't obvious then yes I am endorsing anyone who is on the fence to go ahead ang pick up Thunderlord while you can.
