purpose (anymore) other than to give guys who like the ball a little less inflated a reason to break the arbitrary rule. The rule is a remnant from a system in which the home team got to supply all the balls. The purpose was to not let the home team set it in a way that disadvantaged the visitor by too much so having a uniform ball pressure made sense. Since each team now gets to supply their own ball neither team is disadvantaged by how the other team sets their ball. Both should set it however they want. I'm not arguing that Brady didn't break the rule and deserves punishment. I'm arguing the rule should go away and the punishment should be put in proper perspective.
