In response to "You can think he broke a rule, think that rule is stupid, and think that the NFL is inept and overly penalizing for that rule break." by Will Hunting

"It's a rule that at best, is begging to be broken given the NFL has no oversight apparently."

this kind of thing keeps really getting me. it's not ok to commit a wrong act because no one is looking (or, from farther down, because someone might think a rule shouldn't be in place). the act was done with intent and knowledge that it was not ok, and it was done multiple times. it was known it wasn't ok, known there could well be consequences if it was discovered.

everyone should be able to agree that the NFL and goodell have a history of ongoing suck, but that doesn't necessarily make everything they do wrong. to not harshly address something that was meant to directly impact game play and give an edge, and then had both the player involved and the team not fully cooperate, and that the team had a recent past experience with being caught trying to cheat? that would be so unacceptable. (and they totally should have taken earlier action and had systems in place to check balls; but, again, that they didn't doesn't mean not following rules was ok.)

and, while I'm at it: from something someone said on a bb, it wasn't that brady gave autographed items alone, it was that he reportedly gave them at the time that the balls were being deflated. not a coincidence.
